As a school, we are thankful for the support of our parents during this lockdown period. It is our duty of care to continue to provide learning to the best of our ability, for those children who are in school and at home, but also know that the well-being of your children and our families is of the upmost importance.

Of course it is in the children’s best interests to engage as fully as possible in home learning, but to our parents we want to say this – you are doing an amazing job. If on some days, you find the remote learning timetable a little overwhelming, remember that talking to your child, playing with them, sharing a book, watching a TV show, or cooking a meal together as a family is enough.

We understand that circumstances are individual in every family and there is not a ‘one size fits all’ model that we have, to get everyone through this, but we will get through it together, as a school family that we pride ourselves to be.

So if you are struggling, reach out and ask for help. We are here as a school to support not just our children, but our families too. Take each day for what it is, do what you can and know that what you do is enough. Our Family Support Worker martine.blokland@stpetersdarwen.blackburn.sch.uk can be contacted during school hours and will endeavour to respond within 24 hours, to offer support.
